This event is part of the ANTITHESES platform\, funded by Wellcome. \nThe panel discussion will be chaired by Professor Ilina Singh. \nPanel Speakers \nWe’re delighted to welcome: \n\nDr David Crepaz-Keay\nProfessor Sir Simon Wessely\nAn additional speaker to be announced\n\nSpecial guests: The NeurOx YPAG \nAbout the event \nTransformations in the concept and sources of mental health ‘expertise’ are impacting how we think about diagnosis\, identity\, need and treatment. At the same time\, the UK is experiencing an unparalleled surge in people seeking mental health support\, with lengthy waitlists and significant inequalities in access to services. \nOur public event asks: What kinds of expertise should we trust to identify\, support and treat mental health needs? Speakers will address some difficult challenges: Is traditional medical expertise still relevant in an age of self-diagnosis through social media? How should other forms of expertise\, e.g. AI chatbots and lived experience\, figure in how we design future mental health support and policy? Will a more liberal perspective on ‘expertise’ help tackle the problem of inequalities in mental health access and support? DESCRIPTION:Recent research shows that 80% of professionals will experience ‘imposter phenomenon’\, often referred to as ‘imposter syndrome’\, at some point in their careers. Whilst it is prevalent\, this doesn’t stop it from being debilitating and disempowering as it can be associated with decreased job performance or burnout (Bravata et al 2020). \nThis workshop explores practical tips for managing imposter phenomenon\, from both an individual and systemic lens. \nIn this 3-hour virtual workshop you will: \n\nappreciate the often systemic nature of imposter phenomenon by understanding what in the system or culture is (possibly inadvertently) causing you to feel like an imposter. Which elements of this can you choose to minimise\, challenge or reframe?\nclarify your typical trigger situations\, trying out practical tools to help you challenge your negative self-talk and bring your strengths to bear in these situations\nengage in peer coaching with other delegates using solution-focused questions\, giving you the opportunity to form supportive networks and cultivate a new mindset around imposter phenomenon

These behaviours are not simply bad habits\, they are often chronic\, difficult to control and associated with high levels of emotional distress.  They can have profound impact on everyday life\, including work\, education\, relationships and general social functioning.\n\n\n\nBFRB Con 2026 will bring together clinicians\, researchers and people with lived experience to support knowledge exchange\, professional development and community-building around Body-Focused Repetitive Behaviours (BFRBs). SUMMARY:Psychedelic Therapy - mechanisms\, promises and challenges
DESCRIPTION:As evidence grows for psychedelic therapy across conditions such as depression\, addiction and disordered eating\, a new question emerges: how do we responsibly integrate these treatments into existing healthcare frameworks? \nIn this talk\, Dr David Erritzoe will begin with an overview of the field – from psychological and neurobiological role of psychedelics as catalysts of flexibility in “stuck” brain networks\, to key findings from recent clinical trials. He will then turn to the practical realists of implementation\, exploring what healthcare systems can do now to prepare for the coming wave of psychedelic therapies.
