SUMMARY:Oxford Academic Paper Writing Retreat for Nurses and AHPs
DESCRIPTION:18\, 19 and 20 October 2023 \nThis three-day Academic Paper Writing Retreat is sponsored by the Oxford Health Biomedical Research Centre (BRC)\, Oxford cognitive health Clinical Research Facility (CRF)\, and the Oxford Institute for Nursing\, Midwifery and Allied Health Research (OxInAHR). \nIt is open to all nurses and AHPs at any career stage\, working at Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust\, OxInAHR or Oxford Brookes University who have a paper to write up for submission to an academic journal and need time and space to focus on this without interruption. \nWe ask that delegates who attend commit to the full three days (£50 deposit required to a secure place\, refundable after attending all 3 days)\, and that you come with a clear writing goal and a specific material outcome that you wish to achieve. It is an expectation that all attendees will have submitted their chosen paper(s) to an academic journal within eight weeks of the retreat. \nThe event will take place across Headington Hill Hall and Marston Road site Headington Campus\, Oxford Brookes University\, where attendees will join a community of writers in a supportive shared space. \nThere will be an opportunity to meet with a pre-assigned mentor during and after the retreat\, and attend tutorials on day one and two\, led by a professional creative writer from the Royal Literary Fund. \nClick here to complete the application form for the October 2023 retreat. Get in touch via writingretreat@psych.ox.ac.uk with any questions. \nApply by midday Friday 15 Sept 2023 \n\nProtected academic paper writing time\nNetwork with fellow researchers\n1-2-1 mentor support\nTutorials\n\nWriters from the retreat in May 2023 share their experiences. \n“Structured time for writing without feelings of guilt for not doing other (non-research related) tasks. This gave me the space needed to focus entirely on writing the paper.” \n“It can be quite lonely undertaking a project as a nurse that doesn’t quite ‘fit’ the usual routes into research so to meet colleagues and AHPs was valuable.” \n“I thought it was very carefully prepared to gives us the best experience possible. A valuable gift”
