SUMMARY:Pioneering Approaches in Experimental and Translational Medicine
DESCRIPTION:Two-day\, in-person course \nThursday 13 March (10:00 – 17:30) and Friday 14 March (9:30 – 16:30) 2025 \n  \nBook your place – priority booking for NIHR Maudsley BRC\, King’s and South London and Maudsley until 29 January 2025 \n  \nThere is an urgent need for new interventions for psychiatric and neurological conditions. Experimental medicine studies and early-phase trials are important in providing mechanistic information\, optimising and de-risking therapeutic development before proceeding to later stage clinical trials. \n  \nThis two-day\, in-person course aims to inspire and prepare researchers embarking on careers in translational and experimental medicine approaches to psychiatric and neurological conditions. \n  \nIt is hosted by the Experimental Medicine and Novel Therapeutics Theme of the NIHR Maudsley Biomedical Research Centre. \n  \nAbout the course\nThe course will introduce pioneering approaches across research methods\, including neuroimaging\, psychopharmacology\, digital therapeutics\, sleep\, neuromodulation and machine learning/AI\, whilst covering a range of practical essentials – from how to ensure that your study design is feasible\, incorporate participant and patient perspectives\, embed reproducibility and open science\, and foster industry partnerships. DESCRIPTION:Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust and the University of Oxford and partner invite you to the upcoming pre-planning public consultation sessions for Warneford Park.  \nAs you may know the Warneford Hospital is the oldest inpatient unit still in use across the NHS. Although no longer fit for purpose\, staff continue to provide compassionate care in this Grade II listed building that hasn’t changed much from when it was built 200 years ago \nIn partnership with the University of Oxford and partners\, we want to develop a major brain health research and innovation campus. This will comprise: \n\na new state-of-the-art mental health hospital\, offering the best treatment\, care\, and therapeutic environment.\na modern scientific facility for the world-leading brain research taking place at the University of Oxford\, with additional space for biotech\, pharmaceutical and start-up companies.\na new post-graduate college for the University of Oxford focused on medical sciences\, bio-engineering and related disciplines.\n\nThis consultation aims to gather valuable insights and feedback\, on the proposed redevelopment of the Warneford Hospital site. It is an important part of our pre-planning application process\, inviting participation from local stakeholders\, community representatives\, businesses\, service providers\, staff\, patients and agencies with an interest in the future of this hospital and its surrounding site. We would like to work together\, to explore relevant issues and guiding principles for the redevelopment. \nThe drop-in exhibition sessions will provide an opportunity to: \n\nExplore informative displays and visual material which will provide background context and considerations for future development\nMeet members of the project team and engage in discussions with subject matter specialists\nShare your thoughts\, concerns and ideas for the future of Warneford Park\n\nA team led by Eric Parry Architects has been appointed to take forward and create a masterplan for this site. DESCRIPTION:We are excited to announce the launch of the NIHR LGBTQ+ Staff Network. The NIHR LGBTQ+ Staff Network is open to all staff working as part of NIHR (such as staff in coordinating centres\, LCRN core teams\, delivery staff in LCRN partner organisations and staff in NIHR infrastructure eg. ARCs and BRCs) who identify as part of the LGBTQ+ community or as allies.
