SUMMARY:Integrating the Lived Experience and Voices of Children and Young People in Weight Management
DESCRIPTION:This session will provide an overview of the why and how the voices of young people are so critical in weight management research and service evaluation. We will share learning from the NIHR funded ENHANCE study which has evaluated the NHS complications in excess weight clinics for children and young people including: \n\nHow they set up the ENHANCE ARROWS – lived experience group of diverse young people\, and how they have been integral to every stage of the study.\nDiscuss practical considerations and learning from the work\nShowcase the outputs and impacts generated by the ARROWS\n\nThe session will finish with an introduction to the Obesity Voices Hub – a lived experience hub that promotes and supports the meaningful integration of lived experience into policy\, practice and research\, and how we hope the ARROWS will help to expand this hub to further represent young people’s voices in future work. \nNext steps and further information: \nYou can register using the following link: Webinar Registration – Zoom \nOnce registration closes\, further details will be sent to everyone who has reserved a ticket. \nThe event lasts for 1 hour with a 30-minute presentation and 30 minutes allocated for Q&A. \nThe event will be recorded and shared with those who have registered as well as publicly on our NIHR platforms and may be downloaded in countries where data protection legislation differs from the UK. \nFor any queries please contact netspublic@nihr.ac.uk

SUMMARY:Socio-Economic Disadvantage Inclusion in Health Research
DESCRIPTION:We’re delighted to invite you to an informative session (online) on practical tools for socio-economic disadvantage inclusion in health research. This event is a fantastic opportunity to enhance your approach to including people and communities from diverse ethnicities in your research. \nSpeaker \nDr Heidi Green is a Health Equity and Patient Involvement Specialist and a Creative Qualitative Researcher who co-developed the NIHR INCLUDE Socio-economic disadvantage framework\, which has been designed to aid researchers\, who are designing clinical trials\, to consider barriers to including patients from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds in their trial. \nThere will be lots of opportunities for you to ask questions from experienced and knowledgeable speakers to support your research. \nCASE STUDIES: \nCase Study 1: Reducing Health Inequalities Through Co-Designed\, Integrated Care Presented by Victoria Stalker\, Project Manager\, and Dr Nimra Khan\, Post-doctoral Researcher\, the ⁠Co-PICS study aims to improve care for people from diverse backgrounds living with psychosis and long-term physical health conditions. The project seeks to reduce health inequalities by first exploring individuals’ lived experiences and then co-designing clinical tools and training resources informed by those insights\, supporting more integrated and inclusive care across services. \n⁠Case Study 2: Embedding Inclusive Research Practices in Brain Health Studies Dr Sana Suri\, Associate Professor at the University of Oxford\, Department of Psychiatry will share how insights from having previously attended Heidi’s session have influenced the design of the ⁠SABHEE study (Stories About Brain Health and Ethnicity)\, a qualitative project exploring brain health in British South Asian adults. Drawing on the NIHR INCLUDE framework\, the study reflects an ongoing shift towards more inclusive and culturally responsive research practices. \nThese sessions are for: \nResearch staff affiliated with the following Biomedical Research Centres: Barts\, Birmingham\, Cambridge\, Moorfields\, Oxford and Oxford Health. \nLimited spaces available. \nRegistration link
