DESCRIPTION:The Cambridge Centre for Health Services Research (CCHSR) is delighted to host Professor Martin Knapp who will present at its Annual Lecture\, taking place at Thursday 6th November 2025\, 12:30-13:30 via Zoom. \n\nRegister here. \n  \nShifting care from hospital to community settings is at the heart of the NHS 10-Year Health Plan for England and wider government policy. This is not a new ambition: ‘care in the community’ was heavily promoted from at least the 1960s for people with mental health problems and learning disabilities. What are the chances of success today? \n  \nThis year’s lecture will be delivered by Professor Martin Knapp\, who will draw on decades of experience and evidence from four key clinical areas: dementia\, mental health\, respiratory and cardiometabolic conditions. Martin Knapp is a Professor of Health and Social Care Policy\, and Professorial Research Fellow (CPEC)\, at the Department of Health Policy at the London School of Economics. He will explore the innovations\, opportunities\, and challenges facing the NHS in achieving this ambitious transformation. \n  \nThe Annual Lecture will be hosted by Jon Sussex\, Chief Economist at RAND Europe and Co-Director of CCHSR\, and RAND Professor Stephen Morris at the University of Cambridge and Co-Director of CCHSR. \n\nThis event will be held online and recorded\, to be published on YouTube. DESCRIPTION:NIHR is partnering with the Medical Research Council\, Cancer Research UK and the British Heart Foundation (BHF) to grow clinical research capacity and improve career paths through the aligned Clinical Future Leaders Fellowship (FLF). \nClinical FLFs will help clinicians across nursing\, midwifery\, the AHP professions\, pharmacy\, medicine\, dentistry\, and healthcare science to establish their own research teams. \nThe 7 year programme also provides protected research time and leadership development opportunities to enable fellows to transition from postdoctoral researchers to research leadership roles. \nEligible institutions are invited to nominate a maximum of 3 eligible applicants to each NIHR Clinical Future Leaders Fellowship funding opportunity. SUMMARY:Social Prescribing: a passing phase or a foundational pillar of the new Neighbourhood Health Service?
DESCRIPTION:University of Oxford Department of Psychiatry Seminar Series \nSocial prescribing is a major new innovation already underway in over 40 countries around the world. A type of personalised care\, social prescribing connects individuals with non-clinical supports and services including arts\, heritage\, exercise\, volunteering\, social groups\, job training\, and financial and housing support. In the UK alone\, there have been an estimated 7 million referrals since the national roll-out in 2019. As the new National Centre for Social Prescribing Data and Analysis\, UCL is working at the forefront of new developments in social prescribing in the UK. The session will be online. \nAn Equality Impact Assessment (EIA) is a way to identify the possible impacts of a research project or decision. Researchers can use this tool to understand the effects of their work on trial participants or members of the research team\, based on their protected characteristics\, and mitigate potential negative impacts and promote positive ones. \nCompleting an EIA helps ensure that research processes are fair and do not present barriers to participation. It is a great way for researchers to embed equality\, diversity and inclusion through all stages of their projects\, be it research design\, engagement or participant selection. \nIn this talk\, Stephanie will explain why EIAs are important\, how to use them and how you can apply them to your research to demonstrate how you have considered inclusion. We have developed the Fellowship Application Day to give attendees the information they need to improve the quality of their application and make sure that it is focused on what NIHR and their reviewers are looking for. \nThe Fellowship Application Day is held online.
