Each seminar is 20 minutes long followed by 10 minutes of Q&A\, and will be held via Microsoft Teams. \nMultilevel modelling in clinical trials \nDr Daphne Kounali\, OCTRU Lead Statistician \nWednesday 9th April 2025\, 1:00-1:30pm \nA multilevel model is a statistical tool used to analyze data with a complex dependence structure\, such as when patients are nested within hospitals or when there are multiple levels of treatment providers and geographic locations. In this seminar\, I will define the different types of structures in clinical trials and discuss various applications of multilevel models\, including incorporating repeated measurements\, accounting for drop-out\, and addressing measurement error. DESCRIPTION:Course Description: \n\nBeing able to provide a full\, complete and accurate IRAS submission should help to make your approval process run much more smoothly\, but many people struggle with some aspects of IRAS. This half day course is designed to supplement the existing IRAS and HRA guidance by working through the standard and combined review IRAS systems as well as the amendments section in a live environment.  We will concentrate on those questions and functions that many applicants struggle with\, such as: \nHow to complete the project filter?\nWhat is the most effective way to navigate the system?\nHow do I transfer the project to other collaborators?\nThe course will give you the opportunity to ask questions about both the system and the submission process and understand the best way to ensure your application fully reflects the detail of your research. \nCourse Structure \nThe course will work through the different parts of the IRAS system: \n\n\nStandard IRAS\nIRAS for Amendments\nCombined Review IRAS\n\nWe will look at how each one is used and how to complete and submit an application. Preparation for Inspection is critical but compliance driven from preparation rather than from quality systems can lead to poor practice and Inspection findings. \nLast minute changes just prior to a visit can be very unhelpful and in some cases misleading and so this course will help delegates understand how to become inspection-ready for any inspection. Delegates will learn strategies that build confidence for an inspection from any of the regulators for example the MHRA\, Human Tissue Authority or Human Embryology & Fertilisation Authority. \nCourse structure \nThis is a practical course delivered by experienced NHS R&D managers who work in the NHS and have direct experience of managing regulatory inspection in their organisations.  Sessions include slide presentations but are also interactive and an opportunity to learn and share with peers.
