DESCRIPTION:This event is aimed at students and recent graduates interested in research\, and will enable them to learn more about engaging with and getting involved in health and care research. \nThe event will cover: \n● Interactive breakout sessions \n● Talks introducing research careers\, why research matters \n● The chance to meet other attendees and learn from researchers at a range of career stages \n\nThis event is part of a series of student engagement events being delivered by NIHR in 2025 and is open to any students or recent graduates (apprenticeship\, internship\, undergraduate\, graduate or masters students currently undertaking undergraduate training or who have recently graduated) within health and care. Through the event\, we aim to make a positive impact on groups and professions identified as underrepresented within NIHR. As a result\, we particularly encourage attendance from those aspiring to be: \n ● health and care professionals (nurses\, midwives\, allied health professionals\, pharmacists and healthcare scientists) \n● social work and public health professionals \n● researchers in methodology (including health data science). \n● those who are under-represented within NIHR. DESCRIPTION:The public is invited to a webinar to ask questions of leading specialists about the latest research into attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)\, hosted by the National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR). \nProfessor Samuele Cortese and Dr Edoardo Ostinelli will take questions in an ‘ask the expert’ event on Tuesday 18 March from 7pm to 8pm. \nPosing the questions will be Steve Bond\, who was diagnosed with ADHD as an adult and is parent to a neurodivergent family. Steve has worked as a public contributor championing inclusive research and the benefits of community led research. Steve runs a video production company providing employment for disabled people. \nGuests must sign up in advance using this form where they can enter their questions. Questions can also be submitted during the event in the text box provided. DESCRIPTION:Join Dementia Research is an online service that allows members of the public to register and express their interest in taking part in vital dementia research. Our service then matches volunteers with studies that they might be eligible to take part in. DESCRIPTION:From autumn 2024\, applicants for all NIHR domestic programme awards will be required to demonstrate how inclusion is being built into the research lifecycle and costed for.  \nThis includes\, but is not limited to\, the research question and design\, the participants recruited\, the research methods\, data collection\, analysis and dissemination of findings. \nTo fulfil NIHR’s mission to improve the health and wealth of the nation through research\, the NIHR will be changing to ensure that research inclusion is properly costed and executed. \nThe NIHR will be delivering training sessions on the new requirements. The sessions are aimed at researchers and research support staff. \nThis 1-hour session will be jointly delivered by the NIHR Research Inclusion team and the NIHR Research Support Service (RSS). \nThe session is aimed at researchers and research support staff and will include: \n\nAn overview of the new conditions of funding for domestic programme awards\nPractical and actionable advice on how to meet the requirements and meaningfully embed inclusion in all stages of the research lifecycle\n\nRegistration required on the link : Wednesday 16 October 2024 from 2pm – 3pm. Register for the 16 October event. \n NIHR infrastructure and global health awards will come on stream from 2025 onwards.
