Harry Chapman, part-time research assistant in the NIHR Mental Health Translational Research Collaboration (MH-TRC) Mental Health Mission (MHM) Mood Disorders Clinic in Hampshire and Isle of Wight Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, is taking part in the MH-TRC MHM Industry Internships Funding Programme.
The Internship aims to support researchers’ training and development and promote collaboration with industry.
For the internship, Harry works part time at CareLoop Health, which develops digital therapies for severe mental health conditions, working as a Service Delivery and Engagement Manager.
Harry, who started his year-long internship in November 2024, has shared his experience:
“The opportunity to gain industry experience alongside my role in the NIHR MH-TRC Mission has been invaluable. I am currently working with CareLoop Health to integrate their digital psychosis intervention tool within NHS trusts, drawing on my firsthand understanding of patient care and staff engagement.
“In doing so, I continue to develop key skills that can be challenging to acquire early in a career, such as stakeholder engagement, project management, and service delivery. This dual role has strengthened my ability to navigate both industry and the NHS, giving me confidence in bridging the gap between healthcare and innovation.
“Looking ahead, I feel well-prepared to build on these experiences with a strong foundation in workflow integration, collaboration, and the dynamics of digital healthcare adoption.”
