Race Equality Week (REW) is an annual UK-wide movement uniting organisations and individuals to address the barriers to race equality in the workplace. This year the week-long observance takes place 3- 9 February.
REW was established in 2020 by Race Equality Matters after George Floyd’s murder.
This years theme, #EveryActionCounts, was selected by the Race Equality Matters community.
Race Equality Matters say:
“Building on the previous REW themes, which sent clear messages that race equality is everyone’s business (#ItsEveryonesBusiness 2023), in (#ListenActChange 2024) #EveryActionCounts will galvanise everyone to focus on taking action.
There has been a lot of listening, and discussing, but very little action and even less meaningful change. If we all commit to #EveryActionCounts, then real change can take place. Everyone has a role to play in the fight for racial equality in the workplace, from the top of each organisation to the bottom. The sooner we act, the sooner change can become our reality!
That is why the 2025 Race Equality Week theme is #EveryActionCounts.”
Race equality Matters are running a series of events throughout Race Equality Week. Their solution-focused, collaborative, and interactive events are free and virtual, so there are no barriers to joining. They feature amazing changemakers who are driving impactful change for race equality in organisations large and small, with evidence of making an impact.
