Health Data Research Service – unlocking research in the UK

Speaker: Dr Melanie Ivarsson, CEO of the Health Data Research Service

Speaker bio: Melanie currently leads the Health Data Research Service – a new organisation backed by the UK Government and Wellcome Trust which aims to revolutionise how UK data healthcare is used. She is currently leading efforts to accelerate the understanding of what causes disease and the discovery of life-saving drugs, while protecting the public’s data.

Melanie began her career as an academic neuroscience researcher in the UK, USA, and Sweden. She has also worked in industry, primarily exploring ways to develop new drug targets. Most recently, she has led the creation of Moderna’s mRNA vaccine against COVID-19.
