Integrating the Lived Experience and Voices of Children and Young People in Weight Management

Friday 10 July at 10:00 am - 11:00 am

This session will provide an overview of the why and how the voices of young people are so critical in weight management research and service evaluation. We will share learning from the NIHR funded ENHANCE study which has evaluated the NHS complications in excess weight clinics for children and young people including:

  • How they set up the ENHANCE ARROWS – lived experience group of diverse young people, and how they have been integral to every stage of the study.
  • Discuss practical considerations and learning from the work
  • Showcase the outputs and impacts generated by the ARROWS

The session will finish with an introduction to the Obesity Voices Hub – a lived experience hub that promotes and supports the meaningful integration of lived experience into policy, practice and research, and how we hope the ARROWS will help to expand this hub to further represent young people’s voices in future work.
