  • « Asian Cultural Centre get-together
  • NIHR Nursing and Midwifery Principal Investigator Pipeline Programme webinar »
Oxford BRC

Speaker: Shanta Raj, Public Involvement and Engagement Lead, Oxford Health Biomedical Research Centre

Please register on the Training Records Form and join us via the Zoom link below.

This PPI Talk is available to all staff funded by the OH BRC

Shanta will lead discussion of Emotion in public involvement: A conceptual overview (Liabo et al. 2024) .

This review examines the role of emotion in public involvement. To explore emotion as an integral concept within public involvement, it draws on relevant literature and own experience from being involved in, and facilitating public involvement in, health and care research.

It concludes with practical recommendations on how to make research meetings feel safe and appropriate for people who have an emotional connection to the research topic.

Before the session, please reflect on any time where you have noticed the role of emotion in PPIE:

  • How did you find the experience?
  • Have you encountered any challenges working with emotions in PPIE?
  • Have you found anything that has helped you to work with emotions in PPIE?
