The Depression Research Centre
About the centre
The Depression Research Centre is a research and clinical program dedicated to understanding and treating depression, including cases that have not responded to conventional antidepressant treatments.
Our team of clinical researchers collaborates closely with experts from the University of Oxford Department of Psychiatry and Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust to design and conduct studies that bridge the gap between scientific discovery and real-world treatments.
The Depression Research Centre is also part of the NIHR MH-TRC Mission, a major national initiative focused on improving mental health care and treatment across the UK.
We assess and, in some cases, help manage the treatment of adults (18+) with depression who are open to participating in research studies.
However, please note that we do not provide immediate or emergency mental health support. If you need urgent help, please visit our “Sources of Immediate Help ” page for support options.

Are there other ways to get involved?
We have formed a group of people with lived experience of Depression that did not respond to standard treatments to take an active part in helping to improve the Depression Research Centre itself and the experience of people who use the clinic.
We want to ensure that the clinic is working in the best interests of, and if informed by the priorities of the people we support.
