The Oxford Health BRC is fully committed to equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI) to ensure excellence as part of all activities undertaken. This encompasses both the researchers we fund and the communities we serve as we address the goals identified in our brain health focused application.
Working with our colleagues in the NIHR Oxford Health Cognitive Health Clinical Research Facility (Oxford Health CRF) we have articulated an EDI Strategy demonstrated in the diagram below.
This Framework aligns with the EDI strategies of National Institute of Health and Care Research (NIHR), the University of Oxford , Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust and our formal partners.
Our Vision
“With an underpinning commitment to equality in research, we will work with partners to establish and enhance the evidence base for EDI. We will focus on relevant data collection processes that will enhance the diversity of our research participants and workforce, including at senior levels.”

Best Practice Focus |
We will work closely with the team at the Oxford Health CRF in areas including patient and public participant recruitment, data collection, demographics, and also when appropriate in training and communications. We will continue with all current joint working across community engagement.
We strive to use our EDI framework to engage with all partners to put EDI at the heart of best practice in the Oxford Health BRC.
We will highlight identified best practice and undertake project work to address, for example, the ethical dilemmas arising from the collection of data around the nine protected characteristics in small groups.
