Grant for Heart and Brain research group
Dr Sana Suri, head of the Heart and Brain research group in the Department of Psychiatry, has been awarded a Springboard Grant by the Academy of Medical Sciences to continue her research investigating how our heart health affects the brain and memory as we grow older. The Springboard award is designed to help biomedical researchers at the start of their first independent post to help launch their research careers. The grant of £100,00 over two years will expand Sana’s research group and support new research on the effect of ‘multi-morbidity’, or combinations of different long-term health conditions such as hypertension and diabetes, on how the brain and cognitive skills change with advancing age. In addition, the grant includes access to the Academy’s acclaimed mentoring and career development programme.
