Professor John Geddes
Professor of Epidemiological Psychiatry, Director NIHR Oxford Cognitive health Clinical Research Facility, Head of the Oxford University Department of Psychiatry, Director of R&D Oxford Health NHS Foundation Trust heads clinical research in bipolar disorder in Oxford. He was the Principal Investigator for two major treatment trials in bipolar disorder (BALANCE and CEQUEL), is a Principal Investigator for the Collaborative Network for Bipolar Research to Improve Outcomes (CONBRIO) and has been involved in the development of national treatment guidelines for bipolar disorder.
Dr Kate Saunders
Honorary Consultant Psychiatrist and the Director of Medical Studies at the Oxford University Department of Psychiatry. She is the clinical lead for the AMoSS study, prospectively exploring mood and related behavioural variables in a cohort of bipolar and borderline patients. She is a member of the CONBRIO team.
Professor Paul Harrison
Professor of Psychiatry at Oxford University, and leads the adult mental health theme of the Oxford Health NIHR Biomedical Research Centre. His research focuses on genetic factors and brain mechanisms that are involved in bipolar disorder, and how this information can guide new treatments.
Professor Andrea Cipriani
Senior Clinical Research Fellow at Oxford University Department of Psychiatry and Honorary Consultant Psychiatrist. His main research interest is in evidenced-based mental health and the evaluation of treatments in psychiatry including bipolar disorder. He is involved in the development of national guidelines for the treatment of bipolar disorder and is a member of the CONBRIO team.
Dr Katharine Smith
Honorary Consultant Psychiatrist with dual accreditation in both general adult and older adult psychiatry. She works at the NIHR Oxford cognitive health Clinical Research Facility. She has a background in clinical research, and her interests are in clinical depression and bipolar disorder.
